Travel Destinations: Where to next?

My Travel Destination Goals

For a few years now, I’ve made it a habit during my birthday to explore different travel destinations. The airline company canceled my supposed flight this year due to the pandemic. I decided to still push for the vacation leaves and stay home instead of rebooking or canceling my leaves. This year’s itinerary? Nothing much, I just shopped a little, cleaned the house a little, stayed at home, ordered food (a lot), and took my most needed break. With this pandemic and this work-from-home situation, it feels like an ironic and refreshing change for me. I got to take my mind off work, be lazy, and feel cozy especially on a perfect bed weather.

During these days, I also got to think about the travel destinations I would want to go to next for when it’s safe to fly again. Some of these places I’ve already been to and wanted to visit again. Some are on my bucket list of travel destinations I wanted to visit. I tried to limit the places since I wanted to travel the world! Don’t we all?

Places I would love to go back to…
  1. Japan – This tops the list of the travel destinations I wanted to revisit. With its ambiance, the landmarks, the food, the people, and just the country in general. When I went there with friends last time, it was our first time in Japan so we tried to squeeze all the things we wanted in 9 days. It was fulfilling yet tiring. On my next visit, I wanted a more relaxed itinerary and focus not only on the landmarks but the food and shopping 🙂 as well. I also wanted to visit Sapporo and go skiing or “try to go” skiing. 🙂
  2. Taiwan – I love Taiwan, to me, it’s like a fusion of different Asian countries. There are a lot of options on the places to visit and activities to do. Cherry blossom chasers will also find Taiwan a good alternative to Japan’s. One won’t run out of things to do and even a last-minute DYI is not an issue. With its transportation system and internet speed, going around will be a breeze.
  3. Korea – To be honest, I wasn’t much of a fan when we went there, but I feel like we were there for a short period and I should give it another shot. I particularly wanted to visit Jeju Island, experience riding the train to Busan (well, for the heck of it lol), and those places where the most popular Korean dramas where shot. It’s also popular with skin/beauty products so shopping would be a great item in the itinerary as well.
  4. Singapore – It’s been a while since I’ve been to Singapore and a lot has changed since so I wanted to go back. It will most likely be with the whole family next time since we also have a family there to visit. Singapore is such a safe place in my opinion. It may not have all the natural beauty you can find in other countries but the modern vibe is so interesting.
  5. Cambodia – Siem Reap and the Angkor Wat in particular. The history and richness in culture are its best selling points. I would love to go back and revisit the ancient ruins. It’s also close to some other Asian countries so it’s a good stop for a multi-country vacation.

Places I would love to go to…
  1. Peru – First on my list is Peru, particularly, Machu Picchu. I would love to take a hike in here at least once in my life. Ancient ruins and the history behind them always fascinates me. To be able to go here and experience it first hand will be great!
  2. Egypt – As you may have noticed the running theme, I’m a sucker for anything ancient, and what better place to visit than the Pyramids of Giza. With all the stories and movies revolving around the place, it’s definitely atop my travel destinations list.
  3. Jordan – Ever since I saw the Transformers, I can’t stop thinking about Petra and how interesting it looks like. Aside from that, I also wanted to try floating in the Dead Sea. Now that is one bucket list experience!
  4. Nepal – There was a time when climbing Mt. Everest was very much celebrated and some hikers’ journey where documented and even televised. I wanted to go to Nepal and try to take a small plane ride hovering over Mt. Everest and the Himalayan peaks.
  5. Iceland – Aurora borealis is one phenomenon I would love to see. It doesn’t actually matter where as there are a lot of other places where you can view it from. Iceland just seems to be a wonderful country in itself and Northern Lights are said to be hard to capture. I wouldn’t mind the side trips.
  6. France – Paris, in particular. The land of love and shopping! Aside from the Eiffel tower, I would also love to see the Louvre Museum, the Mona Lisa painting, as well as the Palace of Versailles.
  7. Italy – Venice, the Colosseum, and the Vatican would be on top of my list given a chance to visit Rome. I would love to go around the Grand Canal which has been imitated all around the world. The Colosseum is also something featured a lot in movies and documentaries. Last but not least, I would love to go to St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
Thoughts:

There are surely a lot more I wanted to visit and explore. I’m simply limiting the places based on what would take more time and budget! 🙂 The world is a vast place with each corner boasting loads of history and natural beauty. Having the courage and the resources to go around is something to be grateful for. Each place creates memories and experiences to last a lifetime. I can’t wait for the next one and here’s hoping I can tick off most, if not all, on my list and add more!
