Hong Kong: Chinese New Year Fireworks 2024
The Chinese New Year Fireworks display is back in Hong Kong this 2024 to welcome the year of the Dragon. Fireworks are often associated with grand festivities because of the vibrant colors – “a sky full of stars”, a make-shift cosmic display if you must. In Chinese customs, fireworks are believed to bring good luck and prosperity. It’s also said to ward off negative energies.
When: Victoria Harbour
When: February 11, 2024, 8:00 PM
It’s the first time since 2019 that Hong Kong hosted another massive CNY fireworks display. The program has been temporarily suspended due to the pandemic and social unrest. This 2024, the display is back – bigger, brighter, and better than ever as some say.

The fireworks, like usual, were displayed in Victoria Harbour so there were plenty of places where they were visible. The display can be seen from Central to Wanchai, to TST, and even in The Peak. There were so many people though, so unless you are willing to wait, you will not be able to get a good vantage point. I booked a ticket via Klook to see the fireworks display from Sky100, the tallest building in Hong Kong. The ticket is a bit pricey and is exclusive for watching the fireworks display. Since a few people wanted to watch the fireworks as well, I waited in line from 6:00 pm and was able to get in a find a spot at around 6:30 pm. From here on, it was a waiting game. 🙂

It’s something worth going to/going back to in Hong Kong.
PS: It’s also my first post after years of hiatus, getting used to it again. 🙂 For previous posts, please feel free to browse my Travel Blogs.
